Lara Trump Downplays Donald’s Newest Attack Line on Kamala Harris

Republican National Committee Co-chair Lara Trump said her father-in-law is “joking around” when he calls Vice President Kamala Harris mentally incompetent or Governor Tim Walz a moron.
“This is Donald Trump, and he has never tried to make himself out to be anyone other than who he is,” Lara Trump said on NBC News. “And obviously he’s kind of joking around there with the crowd at a Trump rally when he says those things.”
Former President Donald Trump told his rally attendees in Georgia last week that Harris has “bigger cognitive problems” than President Joe Biden.
“All over the world they’re laughing at us,” Trump said. “You know what they’re really laughing at? Kamala. They can’t believe that she’s really going to be president. They can’t believe. You talk about cognitive problems? She has bigger cognitive problems than he has in my opinion.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Trump told Fox Nation that his running mate, Senator JD Vance, is “going up against a moron” tonight in the vice presidential debate.
“A total moron. How she picked him is unbelievable,” Trump said. “And I think it’s a big factor. There’s something wrong with that guy. He’s sick. There’s never been a time in our country when people wanted change so badly.”
Walz will face Republican vice presidential candidate Vance tonight in New York. The debate will be moderated by CBS host Norah O’Donnell and foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan at 9 p.m. Each vice presidential nominee will have two minutes to answer questions, with the opponent having the same time to respond.
In her interview, Lara Trump, the wife of the Republican nominee’s son Eric, also talked about Tuesday’s debate. She said Vance will press Walz “quite a bit” on Biden and Harris’ record.
“He probably will ask if there are so many things that you and Kamala Harris say you want to get it done, why is it that in three and a half years, while she’s been in the White House, she hasn’t been able to do those things?” Lara Trump said. “You look at things like the economy, immigration, those are the top two issues for the American people. I suspect that you are going to hear Tim Walz pressed quite a bit on that, again, if not by the moderators, certainly by JD Vance.”
Previously, Lara Trump warned that a Harris presidency would lead to a recession and World War III. She also has compared Harris to a $2,000 designer handbag that she deemed a “trash bag.”
Lara Trump, however, also turned NBC’s Kristen Welker’s question about her father-in-law’s rhetoric around and instead posed, “What the heck has been going on in that White House.” She said the Democratic Party is also “probably worried about losing the Senate.”
“What I’ll tell you as it relates to the down ballot races is that Donald Trump has a history of helping all of the people, all the candidates on the Republican side of the ticket in down ballot races,” Lara Trump said. “He traditionally pulls higher than all of the down ballot candidates, and he traditionally lifts them up.”
